Nvidia has appointed a senior Google executive as its first chief marketing officer, marking a notable expansion of its leadership team as the chipmaker enters what it has described as its next phase of growth driven by artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n

Alison Wagonfeld, who has spent nearly a decade at Google, will join Nvidia in February to lead global marketing and communications, reporting directly to Chief Executive Jensen Huang. <\/p>\n

Wagonfeld announced the move in a post on LinkedIn<\/a>, confirming she will leave Google later this month.<\/p>\n

Wagonfeld\u2019s appointment represents the creation of a new C-suite role at Nvidia. <\/p>\n

Until now, marketing responsibilities had been distributed among multiple executives, according to a Wall Street Journal report. <\/p>\n

Under the new structure, all members of Nvidia\u2019s marketing and communications team will report to Wagonfeld once she formally begins her role.<\/p>\n

The move reflects Nvidia\u2019s rapid expansion over the past three years and the growing importance of a more unified marketing strategy. <\/p>\n

At Google, Wagonfeld most recently led marketing for the company\u2019s cloud computing business. <\/p>\n

She joined Google Cloud in 2016 and worked closely with Google Chief Marketing Officer Lorraine Twohill and Google Cloud Chief Executive Thomas Kurian. <\/p>\n

In her LinkedIn post, Wagonfeld described the move as a transition \u201cfrom one AI leader to another\u201d and noted that Google and Nvidia would remain close partners. <\/p>\n

Nvidia\u2019s growth fuels leadership expansion<\/h2>\n

Nvidia\u2019s decision to appoint its first CMO comes after a period of extraordinary financial and operational growth. <\/p>\n

The company has benefited from its dominant position in supplying advanced chips used to train and run large AI models, a market that expanded rapidly following the release of OpenAI\u2019s ChatGPT chatbot in 2022.<\/p>\n

In its most recent quarter, Nvidia reported record revenue of $57 billion, a 62% increase from a year earlier, exceeding analysts\u2019 expectations. <\/p>\n

The surge has elevated Nvidia to one of the most valuable companies in the global equity market and has turned Huang into one of the most recognisable figures of the AI boom.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, Huang took the stage at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, where he outlined Nvidia\u2019s next generation of AI server systems earlier in the year than usual. <\/p>\n

He said demand across the industry was accelerating development timelines. \u201cThe race is on for AI,\u201d Huang told attendees. \u201cEveryone is trying to get to the next frontier.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
