Beiersdorf stock’s long slump has finally been enough to make one major broker step back from its bearish stance.<\/p>\n

UBS upgraded the German skincare and consumer-goods group to \u201cneutral\u201d from \u201csell\u201d on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The analysts argued that after a two-year share-price slide, the valuation now looks far less demanding.<\/p>\n

But the move was hardly a full-throated endorsement.<\/p>\n

UBS also cut its 12-month price target to \u20ac80 from \u20ac90, leaving only modest upside from Beiersdorf\u2019s March 30 close of \u20ac75.40.<\/p>\n

It means UBS is no longer outright negative on the stock, but it is not ready to turn bullish either.<\/p>\n

Beiersdorf stock: A valuation upgrade, not a recovery call<\/h2>\n

The timing reflects how hard the stock has been hit.<\/p>\n

According to UBS, Beiersdorf shares are down about 20% since the start of 2026, compared with a roughly 7% decline for the broader sector.<\/p>\n

Over the past 24 months, the stock has dropped around 44%, while the sector has been broadly flat.<\/p>\n

UBS\u2019s rating change is mainly about valuation rather than improving business momentum.<\/p>\n

The broker said Beiersdorf stock now trades at about 17 times estimated 2026 earnings and roughly 7 times EV\/EBITDA.<\/p>\n

UBS sees this as around a 20% discount to the broader European Food, Household and Personal Care sector.<\/p>\n

The figure is well below Beiersdorf\u2019s own 10-year average price-to-earnings multiple of 27 times.<\/p>\n

In simple terms, UBS is saying the stock has become cheap enough that maintaining a \u201csell\u201d rating is harder to justify.<\/p>\n

That distinction matters as a neutral rating is not a call that the business has turned a corner or that a strong rebound is imminent.<\/p>\n

Operational worries persist<\/h2>\n

The reason UBS remains restrained is that the near-term operating picture still looks soft.<\/p>\n

The bank cut its 2026 adjusted earnings-per-share forecast to \u20ac4.27 and its 2027 estimate to \u20ac4.21, both below consensus.<\/p>\n

It also expects a weak first quarter, forecasting consumer organic sales down 4.8% and Tesa sales down 2.5%.<\/p>\n

Within the consumer division, UBS sees La Prairie as the biggest drag, with sales expected to fall about 20%, while Nivea is forecast to post a 6% decline in organic sales.<\/p>\n

Derma is the brighter spot, with expected growth of around 8% in the quarter.<\/p>\n

That mix helps explain why the stock remains difficult to call.<\/p>\n

Beiersdorf still has parts of the portfolio growing<\/a>, but not enough to offset softness in key brands and geographies.<\/p>\n

The company itself has already set a cautious tone for 2026.<\/p>\n

Its financial calendar shows the next major checkpoint will come on April 21, when it publishes its quarterly statement for January through March.<\/p>\n

What makes the Beiersdorf story more nuanced now is how much bad news the market appears to be pricing in.<\/p>\n
